(Past Article) A Guide to Status in VGC

Hello everyone, this is TKOWL again, here just archiving some articles I've done for NuggetBridge over the past 2 years. This one right here was the first one I ever did, and boy does it show. Excuse the noobish talk all over as I was still really beginning in competitive mons.

Don’t Sleep on the Job: A Guide to Status in VGC

(Originally posted September 4th, 2012)

Even at the very beginnings of their journeys, every trainer has known the dreaded effects of a status change. In Viridian Forest, a Weedle poisons your beloved new Charmander and he begins to see skulls. Seeing it cough and gasp for proper breath as its HP drops, you run to the nearest Pokémon center, hoping to make it there in time. You watch as your opponent’s Drowzee puts you to sleep, and you must sit and wait as your Pokémon naps on the field of battle while Drowzee devours it dreams. Finally, your Pokémon wakes up, only for the opponent to put it right back to sleep again the same turn.
Yes, status ailments truly stay with us as one of the defining features of a Pokémon battle. And just like in any other battle, whether it be in-game or standard 1 vs. 1 play, status effects can mean the difference between winning and losing in the VGC metagame. But fear not, for I’m here to show you, yes you, how to become the master of the status effects and how to prepare for the worst and know how to handle your Pokémon in tricky situations such as these.

TKOpinion: Pokemon I just can't stand- Generation 1

Hello, readers, this is TKOWL, and this is my first actual post on my Pokemon blog, this one non-competitive and just for fun. Today I'll be listing in no particular order the Pokemon that I just cannot stand; it can either be from visuals, from its battle abilities, or just a complete preference, these are just the mons that just really don't like. I will stress again this an all opinion thing and shouldn't be taken too seriously; if you like one of the mons I bring up, that's perfectly fine.

Anyways, let's begin. This time, I'll be focusing on the Pokemon from Generation 1 that rub me the wrong way.

Intro

Hello everyone, it's Ryan G or TKOWL, short for The Knights of Wario Land. I thought I'd start up this personal Pokemon blog so that it can be a hub for my Pokemon thoughts both competitive and light-hearted, and because some of my other VGC friends were doing it too. Will try to keep this updated even through my moody updating weakness, so I guess welcome!
